Five Drinks Into Reality TV: Survivor Season 25 Finale!

Tom's Take:

Clearly I am wrong about everything.
Denise, who I had discounted, pulled this one out and became the Sole Survivor of Survivor Phillipines. Congratulations to her, and I think she was a very worthy winner. She played a strong social game, and was absolutely correct in her analysis that sometimes listening is really the best thing to be done. She survived every Tribal Council, and really dominated in her Final Tribal Council Performance, which is an often underestimated aspect of the game that really should be considered more. I mean the Final Tribal Council is almost more important than the rest of the game combined. So congratulations to her, and to Lisa for winning  America's Favorite, which let's be honest was mostly based on her Christian pull, but still it was nice to see.

Players Voted Out in Order:

First Voted Off. Zane: (31 points) This guy was hilarious. That's really all I have to say about Zane. I think Zane had a decent social game, and he could have contributed well to the Matsing Tribe. Nonetheless he went off on his mad plan to get himself voted out, which was entertaining for the first episode.

Second Voted Off. Roxanne:(27 points) She was entertaining, which is all you can really ask from the early vote offs.

Third Voted Off. Angie: (38 points)  Angie was good eye candy. I wish she could have made the merge, and tried to play an actually strategic game.

Fourth Voted Off. Russell Swan: (93 points) Swan was one of our main characters this season, even though he was a fairly early boot. He was just a strong character of this season, and when he left the whole theme of the season kind of left.

Fifth to Leave. Dana: (62 points) I was so disappointed by Dana leaving the way she did, but I guess it was fitting for this season.

Sixth to get Voted Out. Dawson: (87 points) She recognized Jeff Kent, and tried to kiss Jeff Probst. She was one of the most misused characters of this season, I think.

Seventh Voted out. Katie: (86 points) She was pretty, but she had no game, and that was a shame. I think her getting voted out is one of the things that will haunt the Kalabaw Tribe.

Eighth Voted Out. RC: (152 points) Our first juror was a bit disappointing in her final Juror moment, but I think that kind of goes with her whole gameplay this season. She came into the game looking like she was going to play hard, but unfortunately she was too distracted by personal issues and such.

Ninth Voted out. Jeff Kent: (163 points) Jeff Kent played a solid game, and was an integral part of this season. Pretty good for a baseball player seemingly only brought into this season for his star power.

Tenth Voted Out. Artis:  (125 points) Artis was a bad ass juror. Good job Artis. You weren't much of a player, and you were the silent member of your alliance, but you almost made up for that entirely with your Death Stare.

Eleventh Person Voted Off. Peter: (166 points) Pete needed a more bitter juror speech. He was the mastermind that got out masterminded. We haven't had many of those, and we deserved the bitterness and recriminations that he should have brought to the finale.

Twelfth Player Voted Out. Penner: (302 points) Penner is great TV. Thank you Penner.

Thirteenth Player Voted Out. Carter:  (150 points)Oh Carter. We hardly knew you.

Fourteenth Person Voted Out. Abi Maria: (299 points) I loved Abi this season. She brought a lot of fire to this season.

Last Person Voted Out. Malcolm: (387 points) I wanted Malcolm to win, but seeing him lose was heartbreaking and tragic, which is how it should feel when the person you're cheering for loses.

Runner Up. Mike Skupin: (293 points) Skupin was good in that Final Tribal Council, but he never stood a chance. He didn't do well enough with jury management.

Runner Up. Lisa: (304 points)  She did much better in this game than I would have thought. But she didn't do a great job in the Final Tribal Council, and she didn't really deserve to win.

Winner!. Denise: (276 points) Congratulations!!!
