Five Drinks Into Reality TV: Survivor Season 24 Episode 4 (I)

Tom Reviews Survivor Season 24 Episode 4 "Bum-Puzzled"

Did that really just happen?

I'm completely flabbergasted right now. Hell, I'll say it. I'm Bum-Puzzled.

Here's the quick recap of what happened on tonight's show. After the girl's won their third challenge, the men were finally able to curb their momentum by winning immunity. This SHOULD have sent the Salani Tribe to Tribal Council, and left the Manono Tribe with an 8-6 advantage. Instead Colton decided to conspire to get his fellow Tribe mates to give immunity to the girls, sending the men to Tribal Council in their place. Confused? So is everyone else; because regardless of what Colton might say this "strategy" appears to have nothing but angry racist personal intentions behind it. It also makes it really hard to figure out how to score this move. I think I'm going to give the Women +2 for winning reward, and then give -10 to the men for going to Tribal Council for no reason. I'm just...wow.

So let's do player rankings!

1. Sabrina (48 points): She's by far the most consistent member of either tribe. She's a strong athlete, and has proven herself capable at puzzles. She also has a strong leadership position within the Salani Tribe, and is well insulated by having at least two or three people in the Tribe more expendable than her. I'm feeling really good about my picking her to win right now.  I also love her obvious analysis of the stupidity of the Manono Tribe. I personally don't think she would have gone after Alicia, but I like that she was willing to discuss it.

2. Monica (34 points): She's a quiet player, but it's clear to me that she does a good job working around camp, and making sure that she stays on everyone's good side. She has also been a good competitor, and continued to prove herself in this week's immunity challenge. She's going to need to do some work when they get to a Tribe merge, but from where I'm sitting, she appears to be in good position to at least make it that far.

3. Alicia (33 points): Alicia sucked at that Immunity challenge. It was bad, and she has a big mouth, so she could easily be on track to screw herself out of the game. I'm actually a little annoyed that we didn't get to see her confrontation with Christina play out. I guess that's for a future episode.

4. Kim (30 points): She's pretty, and I'm not going to lie. I want to have a threesome with her and Chelsea. Unfortunately I often have trouble telling the two of them apart, due to them having such similar game play. They could both end up being forgettable parts of this season. I hope instead they make a strong duo.

5. Chelsea (22 points): She was Alicia's partner in sucking in that Immunity Challenge. I think, she has a close three person alliance with Kim, and Sabrina. I hope that goes places.

6. Christina (18 points): Yeah the girls are the stars of the season. I don't even really care about what Christina is doing, and she still ranks above all the guys.

7. Leif (17 points): Woah, buddy. What happened to you in this episode? I thought Leif was being smart by trying to forge a connection with Bill, but then that totally blew up in his face. He did really good in the challenges though, and he managed to somehow slip through that Tribal Council. So he's my top male player at the moment.

8. Jonas (14 points): Kind of annoying in this episode to be honest, but at least he didn't do anything ridiculous to land him on the chopping block. He's probably my sleeper pick to win the game right now.

9. Mike (10 points): Okay, other than going along with Colton's plan, you did well this week. Mike managed to put Leif between him and the chopping block, and in doing so moved up to the top of Frat Boy Survivors. (See what I did there?)

10. Jay (8 points): I'm pretty sure he's still Bum-Puzzled. I hope the guys realize that they need Jay's athletic abilities to keep them in the competition.

11. Colton (7 points): Alright, so it's obvious that Colton is the future all-star of the bunch. He's got character, I'll give him that. He's also an asshole, and made one of the biggest blunders in Survivor history. I am in awe of the ridiculousness of what he did tonight. I don't think there's a chance in hell of him winning the game. Even Tarzan could beat him at this point.

12. Troyzan (4 points): Boring.

13. Kat (-1 points): Oh she's slowly working her way up. She's still a weak link on the Salani Tribe, but she appears to have a couple of people between her and the chopping block.

14. Tarzan (-5 points): I don't know who's driving this thing, but he's definitely nuts. He also appears to have avoided being a target despite his lack of athletic ability. I've decided on a whim to award him a wildcard status. From now on, every week he remains in the game he'll automatically get +5 points. Maybe he's just crazy enough to win this game.

15. Bill (-16): I was sort of rooting for him at the end, and he went out with a bang, but he did not play a very good game. Why the hell would he agree to go to Tribal Council and get voted out?

Competitions:

Reward: 9 out of 10.

I really liked the reward challenge, although it was a simple sling shot one. I liked that they had the choices, but I took a point off for one of them being redundant. That was unfair to the men.

Immunity: 7 out of 10.

Kind of a short challenge, and one that ended up being a blow out. I was not particularly impressed here.

Twist:

So does the giving up Immunity count as part of the One World Twist? We also got some negotiating for reward items, which was actually kind of annoying.

Preview:

It looks like next week will be a Tribe Swap. That should be fun!
