Five Drinks Into Reality TV: How I Met Your Mother Final Season Episode 9 "Platonish"
Tom's Review:
Here's our flashback episode just as I predicted. With very little time spent in the present, this one is all about the love triangle of Ted, Robin, and Barney and how Ted missed his chance where he could have hooked up with Robin. Instead he let Barney seize his thunder.
Oh an also we learned that Barney has met the Mother in the past. Which was cool, and I was happy to see. I hope they hang out more in the present, although I no longer thing Barney will be the character who spends the most time with her.
Okay, even though this was an okay episode, I've decided to use Bryan Cranston appearing as a chance to gush about Breaking Bad. So here is a list of fifteen reasons to watch Breaking Bad.
1. It ended amazingly.
2. Bryan Cranston deserved every award he won for his role as Walter White.
3. Heisenburg.
4. Breaking Bad had at least twenty moments that will make you gasp.
5. There is an entire season (Season 4 I believe) that leaves you on the edge of the seat the whole time.
6. Breaking Bad showed a good guy go bad, and it was all completely believable.
7. It took 5 plus seasons for people to realize they were rooting for someone truly evil.
8. The bottle episodes were the best bottle episodes I've ever seen.
9. Saul brought comic relief to even the darkest situation.
10. Gus was both extremely scary and extremely likeable.
11. It made bald guys cool.
12. Blue Meth.
13. The show changed tones with the characters.
14. Everyone else watched it!
15. Other than possibly The Wire, it's the best show that's been on in the last twenty years.
Back to How I Met Your Mother. This was a good episode, with a lot of callbacks.
Episode MVP: Ted, although it wasn't like a standout episode.
Rating: 8.5 out of 10.
A good episode with a lot of strong storytelling and character work.
